While visiting her nana in November 2019, Angela Christofilou joined one of her regular bingo games at St James Church Hall in Heywood, Lancashire. This collection captures the special community atmosphere before covid forced the group to stop meeting.
Angela is primarily a protest photographer who I connected with in 2022. She shared this project she'd shot before covid in Heywood—of her grandma and friends playing bingo at their local church hall. It was endearing, and I could see the joy it brought to people playing. Community plays such a big role in people's lives, and Church Bingo depicted this perfectly.
